Billing and plans
Understand PAYG, Pro, and Enterprise plans, and how billing routes for solo attorneys vs. firm members.
What you'll do
This page is a reference. Read it to understand how Kalivar bills you, what each plan covers, and where the invoice lands.
Plan tiers
- PAYG — pay-as-you-go for solo attorneys. No monthly subscription; you're charged per case and per introduction as you use them. Solo only — firms can't choose PAYG.
- PRO — monthly subscription available to solo attorneys and law firms. Bundled credits at a lower effective rate than PAYG. For firms, the subscription sits on the firm organization and all members' usage rolls up to it.
- ENTERPRISE — per-organization pricing for law firms. Invoiced on net terms, with all firm members' usage rolled up to one bill.
Solo vs. firm-billed
Kalivar routes each charge to the entity that should pay for it.
- Solo attorney. You're charged at the user level. You see and pay your own invoices, and your payment method lives on your personal account.
- Firm-member attorney. Your firm pays under its plan. You don't see invoices; your firm administrator does. Your individual usage rolls up to the firm's bill.
The routing rule is simple: if you're acting under a law firm with an active subscription, the firm is billed. Otherwise, you're billed personally. Switching firms or working outside a firm context changes who pays — but the rule is consistent and the active billing entity is shown wherever a charge can occur.
Physicians and expert networks never pay
Only law firms (Pro or Enterprise) and solo attorneys (PAYG or Pro) are billed. Physicians and expert networks earn through Kalivar — they never pay. If you're an attorney inviting a physician colleague, they will not be asked for a payment method.
Where the invoice goes
- Solo: invoices are emailed to you and visible in your account-level billing settings.
- Firm member: invoices are routed to the firm and visible in organization-level billing settings to firm administrators.
Updating payment methods
- Solo: open your account settings and go to Billing.
- Firm administrator: open your organization's settings and go to Billing. Firm members can't change the firm's payment method.
Tips
- Physicians and expert networks never pay — they earn.
- Enterprise invoices arrive on a monthly cycle with net-terms payment windows.
- You can switch between PAYG and Pro mid-cycle from your account-level billing settings.
- A failed introduction charge does not silently reveal physician identity — payment must succeed for the introduction to complete.
