Kalivar's position

The initial review is a confidential, preliminary case-merit screen: a single input formed by an anonymous physician working from a limited, anonymized record, before any retention. Kalivar treats it as preliminary and consultative — not a final or retained-expert opinion (even if in the app we refer to it as an "opinion") — and does not represent that it carries privilege. How you characterize the review in your own file is up to you; sample language is available if useful.

How the double-blind works

• The reviewing physician never sees your firm or the side you represent. Anonymization is enforced in software, not by policy.
• Both sides stay anonymous until a paid introduction is completed on the case; only then are identity and contact revealed. Before that, the physician appears under a per-case handle.
• The physician reviews an anonymized, redacted summary — not the full file.
• The screen is a probabilistic estimate (Medical Error and Causation, 0–10) plus short written summaries.
• At the introduction step, defendant names are disclosed to the physician for a conflict check. A later case on an existing paid relationship rides as a free case-link but still requires a fresh per-case conflict confirmation before identity is revealed there.

What the platform records

Everything below persists after a case closes, can be exported on request, and would be produced if Kalivar received a subpoena:

• The opinion — Medical Error and Causation scores and their summaries, the expert summary, the similar-cases note, and the submission timestamp.
• What the physician was shown — the case narrative, specific questions, anonymized patient details, a list of any uploaded documents (but not the documents themselves, as they are not stored), and any case Q&A.
• The engagement — the introduction record (defendant names, conflict declarations, fees), your scores, favorite, and flags on each opinion, and payment records.
• Metadata — the matching and notification timeline, identity-reveal events, redaction logs, and the audit trail.

What Kalivar can produce for a matter

If it supports your independence position, Kalivar can supply:

• a timestamped, auditable record that the physician was blind to the parties until retention;
• redaction logs showing what was flagged and removed;
• the clinical-practice attestation captured when the opinion was written; and
• the conflict-of-interest declaration from the introduction step.
