Specialty directory

Every medical field Kalivar matches on, and what each kind of specialty choice covers.

This is the complete list of the medical fields Kalivar matches cases on — every field an attorney can choose and every field an expert can be matched into. Use it to confirm your area is covered and to see how the subspecialties roll up. The picker itself is searchable, so you don't need this page to post or take a case; it's here as a reference.

Who can opine — at a glance

An attorney picks one specialty option per case. Its kind decides who can opine:

The attorney chooses…Who can opine
A specific subspecialty (no badge)Only experts who hold that exact subspecialty.
A whole field (whole field badge)Any expert in that field, whatever their subspecialty.
A subspecialty, in any field (any specialty badge)Any expert who practises that subspecialty, whatever field they trained in.

If the case is limited to certain U.S. states, the expert must also be licensed in one of them. Full walkthroughs:

Attorneys: Choosing the right specialty explains how wide to cast the net. Experts: Which cases you can opine on explains why a case is open to you. The term itself: Matching breadth.

How to read this directory

  • Fields are split into the picker's two tabs: MD/DO (physicians) and NPP (non-physician practitioners).
  • A field with subspecialties is shown as an expandable group — open it to see every subspecialty inside. Choosing the whole field reaches all of them; choosing one subspecialty reaches just that row.
  • Standalone fields have no subspecialties to roll up — the field is the specialty.
  • Subspecialties that appear in more than one field of the same tab are listed again at the end of each tab, because an attorney can request them across any field. An "any specialty" request never crosses the MD/DO ↔ NPP line.

Physician fields — MD/DO tab

37 fields, 238 specialties in total.

Because the NUCC taxonomy fuses psychiatry and neurology into this single classification, the specialty picker offers two curated shortcuts so each side is reachable on its own: "Neurology — all subspecialties" (the 11 neurology codes above) and "Psychiatry — all subspecialties" (the 6 psychiatry codes). Choosing the whole Psychiatry & Neurology field instead reaches every subspecialty on both sides.

Like Psychiatry & Neurology, the NUCC taxonomy fuses several distinct radiology boards into this one classification. The picker offers two curated shortcuts so you can target one side without the other: "Diagnostic Radiology — all subspecialties" (diagnostic and interventional imaging) and "Radiation Oncology — all subspecialties". Choosing the whole Radiology field reaches every radiology subspecialty at once.

Subspecialties shared across physician fields

These appear under more than one physician field, so an attorney can ask for the subspecialty in any field — any physician who practises it qualifies, whatever their base specialty.
